Texting

I have this gorgeous bundle of texty-type prints. I LOVE IT! But it's not doing a whole lot of good sitting in a pile (xcept being fun to look at, of course)

Next week is the monthly meeting for the SLMQG and it's my month for the La Beeda Loca ( our bee) block.

I would love to have my fellow bee members play with these fabrics and help me make a quilt- but I'm having a bad case of quilter's block. ;o)

That happens often when I have a bundle I love so much. I don't want to cut into it for just anything. Finding the perfect idea because impossible.

So I thought I'd ask you.

Any ideas on a fun bee block for these fabrics?

If I choose your idea- I'll send you a bag of scraps (from these fabrics)!

Thanks!

How about a broken wheel quilt block?

OMG I love your fabrics. I would use them in flying geese or hst or Ohio Stars.. oh oh or you could do Jacob's ladder. or you could applique something with a Halloween theme. My gosh the opportunities are endless.

Can't wait to see what you decide on. And I would love the scraps..

I love black and white quilts with a spec of red thrown in. A tradtional log cabin comes to mind, or how about mixing it up with the skinny logs/fat logs in one block. With the right layout it would give that optical illusion look! I especially like the 'admit one' fabric!! Cindy at clovercreations15@yahoo.com

I would do garden steps (like this tutorial http://pinterest.com/pin/201465783303190140/) if you want to do an additional color of some kind, or to just have the text prints I would do something like this http://pinterest.com/pin/201465783303481622/

I can't wait to see!!

i would pick a color (like teal or yellow) that would pop against the text - or even just ask each bee member to pick a color - maybe use bright solids... and then have them do this with the texts as the backgrounds: http://canadianabroad-susan.blogspot.com/2013/04/the-teasing-is-over.html

So I am totally partial because this is my own block pattern, but boy would I love your prints for this block http://happyquiltingmelissa.blogspot.com/2013/05/star-value-tutorial-for-between-heaven.html

It would be so fun to use the black prints for the grey diamonds and the white prints for the background. Then your bee members can just add their favorite colors for pop :)

depending on the number in your guild that are participating I would say do the Moda Friendship blocks -- i think there are 24. I am currently working on a block of the week in all neutrals and there are 73 6.5 inch blocks in that quilt and I would love to get my hands on your scraps -- this is a Bible Studies quilt that is being hosted by one of my LQS Quilter's Loft.

I like the simplicity of a Broken Dish block :-)

Judy has a Flower Patch QAL block that would be fun - you can use the texties as the background or the petals. Green Fairy Quilts

Have you seen the Green Tea and Sweet Beans quilt? It uses these backgrounds for most of the quilt (I sadly need more). Another one that uses these fabrics is Steam Punk. I love your collection!

I'm sure that with your talent, you will find something fabulous to do!

I saw an amazing Couthouse Steps quilt top in neutrals the other day. Good luck with your decision!

These fabrics are so awesome!! The way you have these fabrics displayed they would be so cool to make a Dresden Plate block. It would feature each fabric in the pie of the Plate block.

One of my favorites is Beach Cottage from Scrap Basket Surprises. It only needs 2 fabrics that play well together for each block. Maybe add a few more black prints.

I think it would look cool as a Houndstooth quilt, using black or dark grey as the solid. I've been eyeballing Vanessa Christenson's pattern... http://www.vanessachristenson.com/2010/12/new-pattern-houndstooth-quilt-pattern.html

The ever-popular Anna Maria Horner feather block? Or Great Granny blocks would be nice, maybe against an orange or aqua or lime green background?

I would pick one colour solid, and do churn dash blocks. You could do some with the solid as the background and the rest with the text in the background. And it would be cute to make some 6" and the rest 12"

I would love to have all those text prints!! I would make a wonky plus block with the cross being made with brights or whatever color you choose. I'm on a red & aqua quest right now and those would really look great as the plus in the blocks.

I like Dresden plate block for these. Use black, white and touches of red...and on back say, What is black, white and read all over? karen608 at yahoo dot com

I would simply make a 9-block of squares with a bright red or Yellow or another bright colou in the middle. It would be fast and I think it would look great when done. Even different shades of the same colour would look nice.

I can see using these for log cabin blocks....especially because of the text. Add some zingy color for the centers (or somewhere!)

Butterflies on text fabrics, I love that. You can find a butterfly block and lots of inspiration at Red Pepper Quilts.
