Remember a while back when I decided to open my Etsy acocunt and I mentioned selling quilt kits along with some of my patterns? Well, I've been thinking about it again and wanted to take a poll.
Please leave me a comment and let me know if you think this is a good idea? I'm not asking if you specifically would buy one- I just want to know if it interests you even in the slightest.
It's a tough decision to make and I just need some encouragement so who better to ask that YOU!
Can't wait to hear what you think.
BTW- If you don't think it's a good idea, I want to hear that too. Just make sure you tell me why. ;o)
I always like to buy patterns directly from the designer...I say add your patterns to your Etsy!
ReplyDeleteThat is a tough decision. I work part-time at two different quilt shops. We try to have a few kits made up as there is always someone who would rather buy the kit. Then there are also those who like to choose their own fabrics for the pattern. So, my suggestion would be to sell the patterns but also provide a few kits to start with and see how that goes.
ReplyDeleteI think having a place where one can go to find their favorite designer's goods is always a good idea. Etsy is a great way to showcase your own special flair! I shop a lot of online stores, but find my eyes glazing over after looking at pages and pages of patterns. With Etsy it's easy to focus ;o)
ReplyDeleteI love it! I had a hard time finding the pattern of yours I wanted at any shop in person or online. So I was so happy I could order it from your etsy shop. :)
ReplyDeleteThe nice thing about Etsy is that you can tell the purchaser how long you need to get it to them, whether it's one week or two or whatever, so you could say that some fabrics may vary (in case you run out of that fabric), and actually not make any kits until you get an order for them.
ReplyDeleteJust a thought -- good luck with the decision!
I like to buy kits because I usually fall in love not only with the pattern, but with the colors/fabrics in the photo/sample.
ReplyDeleteYou could always put a note in the shop that patterns can be "kitted upon request".
(provided you had the fabric on hand?)

Hi! I would definitely place your patterns on Etsy...it is a great resource for getting your products out to the public.
ReplyDeleteAs for kits, you may want to try a few out before you cut up a lot of fabric. As an alternative, perhaps you want to show some samples of fabrics that the person can choose from (so you don't have to cut into fabric unnecessarily and can give people a range of fabric options). I've seen it done for custom baby crib sets, such as: http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?listing_id=36624779
Jsut a thought...good luck!
I think most people are like me, they have limited access to fabric stores and would appreciate a kit with the fabrics already picked out and coordinated. It's too complicated trying to find just hte right colors and with online buying, you are never sure of the exact color...and that takes too long anyway....
