Sewing with Solids

Solids are BACK!

Everywhere I look I see more and more quilts made out of solids- ONLY. At first I wasn't too thrilled about them. But now I LOVE them. Yesterday I saw this one. LOVE IT!

Although I'm not quite ready to give up my passion for fun prints, I do have a couple "Solid" ideas in my sketch book.

Have you been sewing with solids? If so, I'd love to see what you've done!

  2. I've liked to use a lot of solids before they were 'in'. Kona has a lovely collection, Moda Bella's sew like butter, and I like the added texture of Kaffe Fassett Shot Cottons.

  3. Solids are wonderful, although I don't think I've done a single project ONLY in solids. I definitely need more solids in my stash. I'm on a strict purchase diet now: can only purchase what's necessary for my WIPs until my UFO list is greatly reduced. So. . . I think if I need a solid for something, I'll have to be generous in my estimate of how much the project will need. ;D

  4. I just finished up a quilt top done totally in solids this morning. It's called "Bob" and is a pattern in the solids issue of Fat Quarterly.

I've done a small one with Cherri House in a QAL, and did a BIG one from her City Quilts book. It's based on a UPC design.

There are more and more solids around. I do like Moda Bella - but Kona has so many colors!

  5. I haven't really made a solid quilt yet but I do like them. I have the book City Quilts and I plan on making something from that this year sometime.
