MINI

I've seen mini quilts ALL OVER. I have even made a few. But I wanted to get your thoughts on them.

I've had a couple of ideas for quilts on my mind the past few weeks but can't seem to find the time to make them. Then I started thinking about making them mini. But I just can't decide.

So, what do you think? Do you make them? Do you like them? What do you do with them?  :o)

p.s.- Did you pick up on my 'secret' project from the last post? Just curious how many saw it and how many it slipped right by. More on that to come.

p.p.s- One more thing, I FINALLY added a gadget to this blog so you can follow by email. It's on the left column right below 'Followers'

HAPPY SEWING!

I love making minis. They are a great way to try a new technique or color combination without makingna huge commitment pf either time or money.

I have made them into pillows, wall hangings, and table toppers as well as traded them on several Flickr swaps.

Minis are great for trying new techniques or trying something outside your comfort zone. Wonderful for using scraps. Use for Mini wallhangings, table toppers, pillows, swap gifts, quick birthday or occassional gift.

I love making minis too - so nice to have a completed project for a change! I love them as table toppers or wallhangings. I also think they could be used when making bags (before you quilt and bind of course). Or if they're small enough - even a potholder. That's right. I said it.

I love minis too. The guild I belong to does a mini auction (silent) at our show every other year. I try and donate a stack. I get to try new stuff and donate to support my guild too.

Minis. I like them big. Beautiful and practical. I would love to use them, but I don't make for display only. Minis are like teasers. Something lovely and cozy...just kidding! They are great for testing, examples and display, but the real show comes with the ever time consuming quilt.

I give up on the blocks. What I did in the last week are pitiful next to what has been posted.

Well, contrary to your first 5 comments I actually don't like Minis because I don't see the point of them. I don't use quilts as table runners nor can I use a mini to cuddle up under. What I would do and plan to do are mini-minis i.e. very small quilts that I would use to put on a wall as art.

The first mini I have ever made is in the works right now for the Mini Modern Quilt Challenge. I am really enjoying the process. It is going so quickly. It is very gratifying to see my very own design come to life. I am using curved piecing which I have never done, and it will be a wall hanging. So far, it is turning out just like I had pictured in my head!!! I'm loving it!

I like quilts you can lie under.... and be cozy, not minis.

I have made a few mini's. One is on my small dress maker dummy and the other is a mini of my daughters quilt for her baby doll. I like the mini's if I have a use for them. I have thought about making a dresden plate mini for a table topper. I will email you pictures of my mini's just because I do love them so!
