A more formal introduction:

I feel like I am finally starting to breathe again after the last few weeks. With market prep, then market aftermath, kids finishing school and crazy summer schenanigans starting I kinda swept over one of the most exciting events:

SHORE THING!!

"The sun on your face and sand beneath your feet- nothing's more relaxing than a trip to the beach.
Now you can take a tropical vacation whenever you want with SHORE THING!"

"Take an oceanic adventure around a picturesque bay or find a peaceful port to relax under a palm tree.  Stroll along the boardwalk and enjoy the local cuisine"

"FInd sandy beached where children play tag with the surf and towels still hang out to dry"

"Explore all there is to discover and let your imagination take over.
There aren't any rules- just find your own adventure and spend the day having a blast."

"Whatever your pleasure you'll find your 'Beach Style' here...
it's a SHORE THING!"

I wanted Shore Thing to evoke the same feelings that Going Coastal did. Anyone and everyone that saw Goind Coastal longed for a vacation and reveled in fond memories of favorite trips. Recreating that a second time I feared, would be a challenge.

I was wrong, it was the complete opposite. As soon as I started drawing Shore Thing took shape and form before my eyes. I was wisked away to vacation destinations I've never been before. Someday I'll visit. But until then I can dream of the shore.

I wanted a more tropical feel with the pinks and touches of green, but I still wanted it to speak to all sea-goers. There's a little something for everyone here.

To prove it- I'm giving some away  :o)
Tell me your favorite beach vacation (it can be on the lake!) and I'll enter you into the drawing. Don't forget to make sure you're a follower, too. I'll pick a winner towards the end of the week. Probably Friday, but at this point I feel like giving myself a deadline is a lost cause.  :o)

GOOD LUCK!

  15. Sadly, I have been landlocked most of my life. I once went to the beach on the Atlantic side, near Boston, Mass, but it was March and FREEZING... and I had morning sickness. So, not that great, but it's the only beach vacation I've had!

  32. That is a difficult one Emily, we live at the beach here in Holland but with so few sunny and warm days the last year and the North sea water nog being that clean at the coast I am not so into a beach vacation clost to home. I think I can not choose so I pick two. I love the coast of Maine but since the weather their isn't always so nice either I also pick the California coast. Alex and I loved Carmel Beach. You fabric looks great, perfect for a beachie quilt to put yourself down on and listen to the waves and for a great beach bag!

  39. Two destinations - one for the view and one for the sand...
No 1: Long Beach, Namibia, between Swakopmund and Walfish Bay. Surrounded by dunes - so LOTS of sand :)
No2: Cape Town, South Africa. Nothing beats the view of Table Mountain.

The BEST is, though when I do not get sunburnt....

  40. My favorite beach vacation was to the Outer Banks back when my kids were young and we went to see "The Lost Colony" and played at their interactive museum.

  41. Even though it isn't a tropical destination, but ever since I moved to Kansas I have been longing for the beaches off of Lake Michigan (southwest Michigan side). Mainly because of the "home" that I associate with them. Great places for families to enjoy and to hiking thru the sand dunes. But any beach will due if I have a little bit of Emily to take with me. :)

  83. Best beach vacation - whale watching off the Plymouth, MA coast - awe-inspiring.

Funniest beach memory - We lived about 2.5 hours from Myrtle Beach and my mother did not like to "waste" money. So... we left home one morning about 6:00 am for MB and drove to a nice hotel and had a very small breakfast. Mom then sent all four of us kids to the bathroom to chance into swimsuits. Out the back door of the hotel for a day of fun. When we were exhausted, back to the hotel bathroom and into our street clothes for the drive back home. I always felt guilty about that (for the hotel "squatting") but I bet we didn't have the money to stay, but Mom didn't want us to miss out - love her so much!!

  84. Since I grew up near alot of beaches I don't think it would count as a vacation, but my mom used to take me to a beach in Rhode Island called Watch Hill. She would pack a lunch and we would spend the whole day. Thanks for the chance to win some of your beautiful fabric.
