Ok folks, I need you help!
I designed this quilt a few months ago and I love it! I'm in the process of making it up in my new fabric (Wahoo!!) but I can't seem to think of a good name for this pattern.
Please don't re-post this picture to pinterest or any other social media with permission. Thanks! |
This prototype I made using PB&J by BasicGrey for Moda. There are millions of patterns out there with "zigzag" or "chevron" names- but this one is different.
So I decided to have a contest. Leave me a comment with your name suggestion. I'll collect ideas until the end of the week. Hopefully from all of your ideas I'll be able to pick just ONE winner. The winner will recieve a
FAT QUARTER BUNDLE of the entire 24 prints of my new collection
"TECHNICOLOR"
and or course a copy of the pattern.
Now get to work- this guy needs a name!!!

Going South...or North
How about Vertical Hold?
They look like tiles to me. How about Modern Stepping Stones or New Age Tiles. Good luck with finding a name. Take care and God bless, Cory
Caterpillar Tracks
Or Boot Tracks
"Point me in the direction"
Broken Chevrons or crushed hearts? I picture this in reds and pinks. :)
How about "This Way and That"
reminds me a bit of an old brick road. Some suggested names:
Charming bricks
Road to Tuscany
Marching Bricks
Charming Pathway
Garden Pathway
Modern Pathway
Modern Brick Road
It sort of reminds me of a Herringbone pattern. Or sheaves of wheat. Either way, it looks great.
Here are a few ideas:
Push Me Pull You (Dr. Doolittle is a favorite movie around here!)
This Way or That
Coming and Going
Which Way
Ups and Downs
Good luck in your search for a name...it's a really cute pattern!
MGM
To points unknown.

The first thing I thought was Trailhead
Love the design!!!
Dancing Down the Crooked Road.
In An Out
Going My Way?
It looks like an arrow to me -
Arrowhead
Straight as an Arrow
Flying Free
Every Which Way
Two way Street
Get to the point
Technicolor Point
Modern Waves
Open Waves
Breaking Waves
Whats your Point
Surfs Up
Harry, you bone.
Boomerang
Which way is south?
It reminds me of my GPS when it says, "Recalculating."
When I look at it I think of an accordion, so how about either Accordion or Accordion Fold?
Makes me think of birds in the sky. Only two bird migrations crossing each other.
So, Bird Migration(s) / Birds Crossing?
Brick work, was the first thing I thought of.
'Hook 'n Roof'
That's a really unique design, love it! It would be a great design for my brother or my dad.
hildy(at)ebertzeder(dot)de
First, I have to say that I LOVE this design.
Ideas I had are "Turnabout" or something like "This Way and That." "Technicolor Turnabout" sounds pretty fun to me.
Congrats on the new line!
Which way do I go?
Brick Corners
Exposed Bricks
This pattern is amazing! Love it! Must have!
mrs(dot)hbraun(at)gmail(dot)com
Mixed Signals is my thought. A really super design.
Margaret
Not 'brain fart' then?????
How about Ziggy Stardust?? or something similar if that name is patented!!
How about PEZ. Or PEZZies. Something with Pez-- as that's what they look like-- ok, just to me.
Just love it and would really like to get the pattern ! How about Corner Bricks because to me that's what it looks like.
When I first looked at it, it looked like bricks, but bent. So I thought "Brick Bender". Then I thought maybe it was bricks that were broken, and I thought of "Karate Chop". To me that seemed catchier.
I see arrows so how about-
Modern Arrows
Arrow Pathways
Arrows a Plenty
Ups and Downs
This way or That?
Life full of ups and downs
Shawn
My suggestions:
The Right Direction
Heading Up - Or Down
In Movement
"Follow the Path" is my first thought! Thanks-love your fabric!
a ripple in time would be a good name!
This is how they lay bricks here in our country in old brick roads. I should call it Brick a Brack
I love this pattern! What about...
turnabout
Love your stuff :)
I would call it "Heads or Tails" because to me it looks like arrow heads, or the feathered tail end of said arrow. Either way, I really like it.
Maybe 'Arrowheads' or 'Heads and Tails'? I really like the ups and downs of the pattern with the sashing seperating it.
What Goes Up, Must Come Down.
I like Hiccups.
Or crooked.
Tire Tracks
or Tire Tread
Reminds me of street signs, so how about "One Way Only". Good luck and thanks for the chance.
Up "n Down
That's what it looks like to me.
Good Vibrations
LOVE this, Emily! I'll be getting your pattern, for sure. :D
'Tread This Way' - fabulous design :)
Any Which Way
Back and Forth
Do-si-do
How about:
Brick and Mortar
Varsity
Boomerang
Love the Pattern Emily.
Opposing Forces
GPS
ArrowMatic
Accentuation
Inflexuous
Interlock
I think it could be called crazy old ladies' see saw quilt pattern. It goes up and down and down and up. Nice pattern.
They remind me of tire treads.
Migrations.
Hills and valleys
Amor's Darts :o)
or
Cupido's Darts :o)
Which way is up?
Looks like arrows to me so I'd say something with arrow in it.
Serpentine Arrows...it is the year of the snake :)
I love it! I haven't read any of the previous comments, so forgive me if I duplicate what someone else has suggested. It looks like the tread pattern on a car tire to me, so I suggest 'Making Tracks' or 'Trackback.' If I were to come up with something completely random, I might say 'Poppy's Revenge.' It sounds mysterious, doesn't it -- who is Poppy and what type of revenge is she exacting? Might be quite memorable for a quilt pattern! LOL! Thanks for this, it was fun.
There are some really interesting names... here are my suggestions:
Strata
Stratum
Thread Tracks
Modern Tracks
Herringbone Twist
My first thought was "Which Way is Up?" but I see someone else beat me to that. I can see rows of geese flying in different directions so maybe "Follow the Leader" or
Migration."
One Way Only...good luck choosing... :)
U.V. Rays
How about in the Armu. It looks like the Chevron patch on the sleeve of those serving in the Army!
Chevrons in Flight~ reminded me of military chevrons too. :-)
Fletchings
Fletching Points
Fletching's Point
To my eyes, it looks like the end of an arrow & that part of the arrow is called a fletching.
Going Places!
The punster in me hopes you'll name it "Herrickbone" (like herringbone, get it?!)
I also like the names "Pathways" and "This Way Up"
Cute pattern, can't wait to see it in your new fabrics!!
Brickworks
He Said, She Said (for the different directions :) )
Partition - it looks like one of those room dividers.4823 rnatistia
hm, makes me think of a flock of birds... so maybe .. "birds of a feather".. or something like "flock together".. or "boomerang fling".. haha sorry i'm terrible at this part!
Check mark!
First thing that comes to mind is technicolor waves since your new fabric line is technicolor! May be too simple but it kind of just rolled of the tongue!
Wiggle Waggle, that's what I thought when I saw it. Good luck choosing a name, it's a beautiful quilt. It looks complicated, was it? ;-> Toni Anne
I love it!
Brick Mosaic? (is that how you spell it)
Bricks & Mortar (especially if another solid other than white is used)
Good luck in choosing.
Just stare at it for a while. It looks like sky scrapers. You really give this quilt the appearance that it is pleaded. Really creative.
Reaching for the Sky
Brick road
Arrow bricks
Very cool! My first thought was the elevator bank in my office building... "Going Up?"
Catawampus
Meandering path
Rambling road
Serpentine
Love the quilt pattern!
It reminds me of a song...Did you ever see a lassie go this way and that way, I think I would call it this way and that way
Vickie.vanathotmail.com
On the Go!
Flight pattern - because it reminds me of birds taking flight.
She went "that a way"
Crazy chevrons
This way up
"Arrows to the stars", or "Upward to Beauty", or "Skyward"
It did strike me as so lovely as soon as I saw it. Good luck!

Arrowhead
Turning corners. Path of Many Colours Paved in Colour. Colour paths. Bright arrows, Rainbow Arrows. Pointers.
Technicolor TrackBack
Signature Signpost
Crooked Trail
When I look at just one row, it looks exactly like the signpost markers for the Appalachian Trail. They use an "AT" sort of very recognizable symbol.
In Formation. Reminds me of the Blue Angels ace flying team for some reason. This is a really cool pattern and I cannot wait to have one! Congrats and good luck on the name search!
At first glance it reminds me of music, can feel the beat.....I say a great name for this pattern would be "Street Dance". Every spring in my hometown we have a big street dance where everyone comes together to celebrate spring.
Due North comes to mind....
Upstream, Downstream
I'm having a little giggle and thinking "This Way Please"
Ebb and Flow.
Sidewalk pavers. It looks like the brick sidewalk by the courthouse where I live.
I would call it "Flock". It reminds me of a flock of birds in flight.
She Went That-A Way

I love the cool blues. My title would be Rivers through the snowy mountains.
Shingles
Up the down staircase! Thanks
Uprising
I saw three things when I looked at it:
Box Corners,
Pennant Waves or
Going Up? ... I see some great suggestions ... good luck and a great giveaway .
My first thought was that it looked like bricks from a garden path, but that sounds kind of like a more traditional pattern. But it also reminded me of that crazy zig zag street in San Francisco that also happens to be paved with brick, so I think "Lombard Street" would be a great name! (Google it if you aren't familiar with it--it's quite a sight!)
Fun pattern! Good luck picking a winner!
How about "LIFE IF FULL OF ZIGS AND ZAGS"
What Goes Up Must Come Down.
This is what I get for reading about Physics.
I love this pattern! I think 'two-way street' may be a good name.
Crystal
Point break
Corner steps
Truncated Trees
love the pattern!
"technicolor tracks" seems like a good name! A simple name/not overly complicated, but fits/amply describes! Tracks could be made in any color(s) or themes... margo in Victoria bc canada
Which Way?
How about "Slings & Arrows"?
Arrows are really hot now, and the upside down arrows look like slings to me. I think it fits!
Best wishes picking a name. You have some great ones to choose from!
Betsy in the Seattle suburbs
Modern Pleats
Love the design..it looks like Indian Arrowheads.
Oh my gosh, you have some fantastic ideas in this list of comments. How am I supposed to improve upon those? I loved "pushmepullyou" from doctor dolittle - great idea. ups and downs - another great idea.
my ideas (and i didn't read all of them):
look both ways
pivot
Lost Geese
escalators
Angle Play? Cute pattern.
Brickway or Bricked Path Very pretty.
You Zig I'll Zag.
How about Sidewalk - it reminds me of my hometown brickwork.
Good luck picking the winner!
Hill's and Valley's
Low's and High's
Very cool pattern! And, congrats on your fabic line. :) I like "Chevron Bricks" for a name for this pattern. Can't wait to try it out..it really lets each fabric stand out.
Because of the 3-D effect that makes it look like accordion folds, I'd suggest Concertina... or even better, Squeezebox.
Askew?
Love the pattern! Climbing Wall
Reflected Chevrons
Split Directions
It looks like maybe Hop Scotch to me. Love the colors. Very interesting the way it all goes together. Love to try it.
broken bricks
wrong turn
split zip
(it looks 'zipper-y' to me)
Emily,
I LOVE, LOVE, L-O-V-E this pattern! It is so cute, I really like this line for this quilt, genius. I can't wait to make this one for myself! I think you should call it City Ziggity. It reminds me of a city street, like a fancy brick design you would find at an open air restaurant in Paris.
Hugs, -Cori
It reminds me of cobble stones on a walking path. Like you find while walking down pretty little alley ways in quaint little towns. :0) Hmm now for a name ... pathway? walkway? hidden path? I cant wait to hear what you decide! Ps. I love my block! Thanks!
any which way but back
'Smiling mustache' ;-).
I like your quilt design. When I am looking at the quilt "Any which way" keeps popping in my head.
Ziggy
" zick zack" like rickrack and zig zag
Up stream
Going against the flow
esthersipatchandquilt at yahoo dot com
well i see a Modern apartment block, so how about "City Apartment" or "Apartment Windows"
Wondering Path
It may have been entered already since I didn't want to look at the comments.
MOOD Directions
That reminds me of the cobblestone streets in Charlesron but a little wonky so how about "Crooked Cobblestones".
How about Shrug? short and sweet.
Your quilt reminds me of sections of High Rise buildings and how corners go in and out as one looks upward....How about "High Rise Living"??
How about line dancing? The chevrons look like they are holding hands and one group is facing the other. Sort of like a folk dance.
Barb@Witsend
Directional control I LOVE THIS QUILT!!1
Which way do I go?
"Static"
yo creo que el nombre ideal es ENLAZADOS. Soy rosaver64@hotmail.com Me encanta
I see lotsa ups and down: "Elevator Car".
It may have been said already, my suggestion is Angular arrows, as when you stand back from the picture, the arrow look almost 3-D.
which Way?
"Chevron Surround", "Chevron Fence", "Trapped Chevrons". I like your design and good luck with your name selection.
Every Which Way
Cute design!
Techni-Brick Road
Wall to Wall? It also looks a bit like an old fashioned screen (like actresses got changed behind in their dressing rooms in the 1920s)
Which Way did They Go? (I seem to remember a cartoon character from my childhood....MANY years ago....saying that...)
Lost n Found
I love this design!!! lucky Girl who wins this!!!
UP or DOWN you decide
LOVE THIS QUILT.....can't wait to get the pattern.... GREAT WORK!!!
It looks really nice. I see I am late to the naming party, but when I looked at it, I thought VERTIGO.
Off Roading -- reminds me of the tread on my husband's 4-wheeler. {grin}
