All is well!
As for Christmas- I survived...barely. My kids were so excited to go to bed on Christmas Eve. I was very surprised because I thought I was going to have a fight on my hands. They all went to bed great. Then, a couple hours later my two oldest (Boys, 8 yrs and 10 yrs) started coming in every 15-20mins because they "couldn't sleep". UGH! I wish I could get them to understand that every time they get out of bed it sets them back and if they would just stay laying down with their eyes closed EVENTUALLY they would fall asleep. No such luck. Finally, at 2:30am my 8 yr old has a MAJOR breakdown. Screaming and crying because he knows Santa won't come until he falls asleep but he CAN'T! Wore him out and he finally fell asleep. But in the meantime woke my little 5yr old girl. ARGH! Slept with her for a while in her bed just to get her to sleep. Finally my husband woke me up at 4:30 to tell me Santa had come. And because he's a kid at heart and couldn't contain his own excitement decided to wake all the kids (even though I just BARELY got them to sleep) and have Christmas morning at 5am. We had planned on 7! Oh well. The kids were happy and it was a nice morning but I'm still re-living Christmas Eve and cringing. Ugh, NEVER AGAIN!
So, how was your Holiday?
I'm going to try and get back to my regular posting but I have a few MAJOR deadlines coming up so I'll do my best!
I'm going to release the Valentine countdown pattern soon and will list it on my Etsy as soon as I do so everyone has a chance to get it and have time to make it before Valentine's Day! :o)

G'day Mate!
Several months ago I was contacted by the wonderful people at Australian Homespun Magazine and asked to submit a pattern for their December issue. I couldn't even believe it. ME!? And now the day is here and the magazine is on the stand....in AUSTRALIA! :o)
The quilt I designed is not shown on the cover- but my name is! You can see a little pic of my quilt here. It's called 'Fun in the Sun' and I used the 'Make Life' fabric line by Sweetwater for Moda.
I can't wait to get my issue of the mag.! This magazine is a great one to have. Those ladies down under sure know how to quilt. And their attention to detail is impecable! If you're looking for this magazine here in states and can't find it nearby you can order it from Erica's. (It takes a month or so before we get them here in states so when you're looking it's issue 11-12)
*p.s.- You could probably find it on the web and order it directly from Australia too. But I have no idea what that will cost! :o)
Super Deal!
She has designed a quiet book called ON TH FARM and is offering the KIT on her Etsy shop. To sweeten the deal for a limited time she is offering the pattern FREE when you order the kit.
DO you have a crafty friend or family member? This is a GREAT gift item for them. The kit comes with everything you see here and with the pattern thrown in for FREE that's a savings of $9! You can't beat that.
Hurry over to her Etsy shop because these babies are going fast!

Change is GOOD!
So, are you super busy getting ready for the holidays? I am. I feel like I barely pull it together for Thanksgiving and then it's full steam on through the New Year. I'm burning the midnight oil trying to get a couple patterns released by the end of the month. It's going to be close. But one is the much anticipated Valentine Countdown pattern. Still working on a name for this one. I have "COUNTING ON CHRISTMAS" for the Christmas one and "CREEPY COUNTDOWN" for the Halloween one. Any ideas on what the Valentine one should be?
Leave me a comment with your ideas and if i pick yours I'll send you the pattern! :o)

WINTER!

Happy MONDAY!
I woke this morning have a crazy dream. Two men at the drive up window of the bank singing duets. I opened my eyes just after they began singing "Endless Love" and now it is stuck in my head!!! ARGH! A day full of errands, appointments, and busy-ness and I'm singing "Endless Love" in my head. (And for some reason I keep thinking of Wil Ferrel singing that song. What movie is that from? Someone help or that will drive me nuts too.)
I better get down to business. Someone has yet to win the most fabulous Day #6 prize. Random.org, will you do the honors?
Hmmm, the littls widget (I'm not calling names- that's what it's called) took a moment this morning- usually it's instantanious! Maybe he's tired this morning. Or maybe he's got 'Endless Love' running through his brain and had to wait for a rest or the chorus before he could spit out an number. In any case, he came through for us: Number 16
Well guess what Rosa? You are SOME QUILTER! :o) shoot me an email so I can ship these goodies out to you!
And now a little info. about the Crazy Old Ladies' First Annual CYBER-MONDAY event!
The sale will take place on my Etsy shop site on NOV. 29th where EVERYTHING will be marked at 25% off regular prices. This includes QUILTS! and will also include some items that I haven't listed yet. So if you've been trying to decide if you should get a little something for someone (or yourself) next Monday will be the day to do it! You will have roughly 24hours to make your purchase and when the items are gone- they're GONE!
Are you excited!? I AM! :o)

Day #6!
My kids helped me. We wrote names on papers (so that those with more than one entry would have a fair chance) and put them in a shoebox (the only open container readily available. My sweet girl (the one that's been sick picked the name). I tried to get her to read it. She's in kindergarten and starting to read. I though this one would be easy. She didn't like the idea. (She's funny like that). So here it is:
Today's prize consists of a Tea Towel all ready for cute embellishment, a 'Corner to Corner curve strip ruler' by Creative Grids, 2 packages of specialty needles, and a clover measuring tape. (I love those things- and so do my kids!) And I think I have a few FQ's I'm going to throw into the prize as well (just didn't have time to take a pick and load it this morning!)
Just leave a comment (any ol' comment) and you'll be entered to win. I'm going to keep this one open until MONDAY so you have an extra day to get in on this one.
Thanks for playing this week. I really did have a good time. I wish I had stuff to give away ALL THE TIME- it's so fun! :o)
I promised info. on an upcoming "Holiday Sale" and here it is- I am going to have my FIRST ANNUAL CYBER-MONDAY sale this year! (That's the 'black-friday' of online shopping) I'm super excited and it's going to be the BEST sale I've ever done. Complete details to be announced on Monday's winner post. See you there! :o)
Smitten
Valentine's Day is a weird holiday in the quilting industry. See, fabrics for a particular holiday must be in stores months before said holiday so people have enough time to make their holiday project. So Christmas come out in May/June, Halloween is usually around that same time. But Valentine's day well, it comes out in December. Nothing wrong with that except EVERYONE is so focused on the Christmas-y holidays that it often gets overlooked. This year I wanted to make a Valentine pattern and I wanted it to look like a Valentine. But I didn't want it to ONLY work for Valentine's Day. I mean, if someone liked it and wanted to, they could make it in different colors and hang it all year long.
I made mine out of BLISS. It's not a Valentine print- but it works PERFECTLY for this, don't you think!? I wanted to give this a Valentine-y look to it- with the lace-ish scallops on the saide and all. This pattern uses FQ's and a little Steam-A-Seam, other than that it's pretty simple. And if you LOVE IT you can get it Fat Quarter Shop!

Day #4 giveaway
This giveaway week has been way more fun for me than I even imagined. Just goes to show that giving really is better than recieving. :o)
First, an apology. I was almost certain that when I opened my follower's page the other day that it showed the follower's alphabetically. I guess I should have checked that. I'm not quite sure how they're arranged. So I thought of the most random way to choose a winner- my husband. There isn't anyone more UNbiased than him- especially when it comes to my quilting stuff. So he opened my follower's box and said "There, that's your winner." I asked him why he chose that one and the said "It was the first one I looked at." So there you have it folks!
Oh, sorry, did you want to know who he picked!?
Alrightie then. Let's move on to day #4's giveaway!
What!? Oh yes! It's the Moda tote they were handing out at market.
Rock Star
So, do you wanna be a 'Rock Star'? :o)

Day #3 giveaway!!!
(Terry: I commented on your post that you're the winner and sent a message to your FB page- but if you don't see it there- send me an email so I can sen you your PRIZE! )
Since this was a different sort of contest I wanted you all to know how the winner was picked. But if it wasn't YOU, have no fear! There's still 4 days left of giveaways and today's is AWESOME! Today's giveaway includes fusible stabilizer from Craft-Tex- PERFECT for making bag handles! Also, a can cozy from 'Stitch happy'- I don't know about you but I usually don't get much sewing done without my sodie-pop right by my side! AND how about an AWESOME drunkards path template ruler from Creative Grids! Seriously! :o)
Ok, wanna know how to win!?
Today's contest if for FOLLOWER's only. On the Left side of my screen here there is a section for followers. Tomorrow morning I will go to my followers page and randomly pick one of you! YEAH! See, it pays to be a follower. But if you're not a follower- no need to worry. All you need to do is become a follower by tomorrow morning and you'll be included in the drawing!
Just a little bit of info. on the follower's list. If you're just becoming a follower don't think that your chances are going to be any more slim because you're at the bottom of the list- because that's not how it works. My follower's list is ALPHABETIZED by your profile name so you'll be squeezed in the list where your name fits. Make sense!? Good! Now get followin! :o)
Even though I'll be picking a winner from my Follower's don't forget to check out my new Urban Life pattern and leave me a comment telling me what you think of this one!
Happy WEDNESDAY All!

Day #1 GIVEAWAY!
One of the best parts of quilt market is the SWAG! There's a good reason why some companies pass out tote bags as a promotional item- they realize that we need extra room to carry all the rest of the stuff we'll be picking up from other booths.
Here is just a sampling of SOME of the things I brought back from quilt market:
Fabric (of course!), Thread, Needles, Books, Thimbles, Rulers, fusible strips (for bag handles!)
and there's SO MUCH MORE that didn't get in this picture. The best part- I'm giving it ALL AWAY!!!
Over the course of this next week I will be previewing one of my new patterns and offering a giveaway as well. That being said there's going to be MANY opportunities to WIN!
Want to see what I'm giving away today?
The absolutely adorable book: "Homemade gifts with love" by Catherine Woram that has ideas and projects for all sorts of crafts. Simple, easy to make trinkets perfect for holiday giving. Also, 6 fat quarters from Windham's beautiful 'Love & Kisses' just in time to get started on those wonderful Valentine projects. Wait- don't start yet. You'll want to see my NEW pattern for Valentine's Day (this one will be released in Dec.). And a package of 'chenille' needles. Now I'm not going to lie here- I have NO IDEA what you use these needles for but I'm sure they're FANTASTIC! :o)
Today's contest: ROLL CALL! All you have to do to be entered to win: post a comment with your city and state (eg: Minneapolis, MN) on the 'PARK CITY' post below (I know, I'm being tricky) and you'll be entered to win. I will pick the winner tomorrow morning. So really, get on it.
Check back tomorrow morning to see another FABULOUS pattern, to see if you're a winner, and to enter in ANOTHER CONTEST! :o)
Park City
DO you remember back here when I posted about visiting Just Sew? Well, a little recap: I met the cutest gal in th shop that just happened to have one of my patterns in her hand (Flora & Fauna). We talked fabric choices for a while and then I let her do her thing ( didn't want to vrowd her). I was at the cutting table having my goods cut when she brought up the most FABULOUS stack of bolts. I had to have them! So I got FQ's of everything!
Fast forward to today and VOILA! Do you see it? I used that whole stack (and a few extras from the stash) for PARK CITY!
One more quick bit on the name. Had a wonderful lunch with a couple friends a few months back. Moose was there and so was April. We had a nice lunch and talked all sorts of fabric related talk. I mentioned that I was having a hard time with a name for an upcoming pattern. I also mentioned a recent trip to PC (Park City, UT) with the hubs. That's when April said "Why don't you name it Park City!?" GENIUS that girl! And so I did. But April's contribution didn't stop there- in a frantic race to get all my new quilts and patterns done before a deadline April pieced the quilt for me! Didn't she do a fabulous job!?
Now here's the cool thing- it is a LAYER CAKE pattern. But obviously I used FQ's for mine. Doesn't matter what you use as long as you cut your fabric down to 10" squares. It's all in the instructions. :o)

One more TINY excuse
I returned home from market last monday. On Wednesday morning I took my sweet little girl in for a tonsilectomy. She was home recovering just fine until Friday evening when she showed me some tiny red dots on her feet. A couple calls to the surgeon and we assumed it was an allergic reaction. (I wasn't completely sold on this idea because with massive tonsils she'd been on antibiotics several times before and never had a problem.)
Saturday morning we wake to a very sad little girl. Her feet were worse and bruised- she could hardly walk. Also, her tummy was hurting her really bad (I assumed she was a bit constipated from not eating and drinking a ton since her surgery.) The surgeon told us that if anything got worse to take her to the ER where they would give her IV steroids for the allergic reaction. SO we hopped in the car and drove to the ER.
First thing the Dr. told us- NOT an allergic reaction. He could tell us several things it WASN'T but didn't quite know what it was. We waited for a while until the Pediatric Hospitalist came to see her. He walked into the room, took one look at her feet and said "She has HSP"
Um...What!? Never even heard of it. Apparently it's not extremely rare- but uncommon enough that we had all kinds of Dr's, Nurses, and students coming into the room to see.
Then the bad news- the pain is so intense that we often have to give morphine. HUH!? To my little 5 year old? So she was admitted and given morphine and tylenol for pain. It's too long to explain what HSP is- but it's not fun. There is no cure- they can only treat symptoms. If you search the web and read about it there is one thing you should know: although it can be quite serious, my daughter has a mild case of it. She was released from the hospital last night when they decided that she no longer needed morphine for the pain and would do ok at home with other pain meds.
We're home now- but she's not better. It could be a week or so before the pain is gone completely.
I'm delaying my week long party of new patterns and goodies until next week. I hope you'll understand.

A little help?
I'm changing my logo.
I've always liked my logo- but I've never LOVED it. I want something that I'll love. At the same time, I don't want to change too much and people not recognize my products. I've been fiddling around the past couple days and I've come up with a few ideas. So I've decided to let YOU pick your favorite. :o)

QUILTS in the shop!
I have been all kinds of busy. Between Halloween costumes for the kids, doctors appointments, and a ton of 'Market' stuff that I can't really go into right now- I just haven't had a minute to sit and post. In fact, I'm even behind in reading my favorite blogs. Just shows you how little time I've spent on the computer these days.
Anyway, I wanted to let you know I haven't forgotten about you. I hope to post again before I head to Texas (and hopefully while I'm there, too) but before I go I thought I'd leave you with a little treat.
I just added a few items to my Etsy shop. Halloween is just days away and you know what that means- CHRISTMAS is coming. Now I usually have all sorts of grand ideas about making all of my presents but time always runs short. So don't forget to check out the shop for some gifts that you don't have to make! :o) Several quilts have been added including some very popular favorites. And a fun pattern ALWAYS makes a fun stockintg stuffer, too. And if it's YOU that wants the quilt (and I know you do) your hubby will be super excited that all he has to do is click a few buttons and it'll arrive in a couple weeks. Plenty of time for the holidays. If you smile real nice he may even let you have it early! :o)
Talk to you soon!

Typesetters
Her Etsy shop April M Designs has been going strong for 3 years- TODAY! (Happy Anniversary!)
Anywhoooo...on with the story.
So, she hands me a little 'present' from her husband's brand new Etsy shop- Typesetters:
Here is my not-so-good attempt at getting a picture of me wearing it-thyroidectomy scar and all.

Sharing Time
And my friend Penny from 'The Quilted Forest' sent me this pic of her version of 'Diamond in the Rough'. She made this for a soldier that is serving in Afghanistan. They've collected tons of signatures from friends and family on the back. Currently it's in CA getting more signatures then off to the soldier. Isn't that a great idea! LOVE the border!

Wonderful Wednesday and a Winner!
I was about to visit random.org and generate another winner since I can't get the picture from last nights fiasco- but then I felt like that was a little unfair to the number that was picked last night. So, even thought I don't have the picture to prove it you're just going to have to take my word for it.
This is a really fun quilt that is great for using up all those scraps. And what's better is it's almost all strip pieced- so it really doesn't take that long to put together.
52knit4- send me your address so I can ship off your Pumkin Party pattern right away. The rest of you can skip on over to my Etsy shop and pick yours up for $5. But only for the next couple of days!!!
And to the rest of you that entered the contest- have no fear. I've made a list of the most requested titles and they'll be the ones featured for the next few weeks! :o)
Happy Sewing and have a WONDERFUL WEDNESDAY!

Quick Contest
Leave me a message telling me what pattern you'd like to get for $5 and I'll randomly pick a winner Tuesday night.
Wednesday I'll post the pattern and the winner.
I think you'll win the pattern- FREE and a few fat quarters from my goodie stash!!! :o)
Now, back to quilting.
Machine Quilting
This weekend was one of those weekends. I quilted 2 quilts with designs I have never tried before. The first was a 'double flower vine'. I've done flowers before, and swirls, but not like this. I REALLY like it.
The second one was for a more masculine looking quilt. I chose this pattern and fell IN LOVE. I've been looking at all the quilts in my 'To Do' pile to see if any others can handle this quilting. I've found at least one other. But first I have to finish piecing it! :o)

the Ultimate UFO
Not my normal 'crazy' busy, but this new kind of INSANE busy.
And of course there's a story to go with:
Last weekend I recieved an invite to a Bridal Shower. It was for the bride-to-be of one of my close friends' (step) sons. (Not that the 'step' matters- but just so you know). And at this point in my life we are BROKER than broke. Mostly because we're saving every penny for something important. So I'm thinking- I really want to go to this shower and support my friend (whom I haven't seen since she visited me in the hospital WAY back in March) but I can't go empty handed. I sent her a quick text asking their wedding colors just so I could hopefully get some brain juices flowing. Eggplant, Sage, and Champagne (purple, green, and cream). Minutes later I had a flash of genius in which I remembered some blocks I had sewn for a proposed quilt for my bed only 6-7 years ago. Now...where were those blocks?
AS you may remember I've been clearing the stash. Those blocks could be ANYWHERE! After I looked in all the most logical places and even a few not-so-logical places I did the next best thing. I called my friend "F" to see if she had them. I often give "F" things I don't want or need anymore only to call her later on down the road and ask for them back. :o) She remembered the blocks, too, and was certain she had them. Until I woke Monday morning with a text that said "Sorry. I don't have the blocks"
UGH! now I have to figure out something else to do for this wedding present. EXCEPT these blocks were perfect because they were almost her wedding colors. (a little more burgundy and slightly more olive- but who's asking!?) I couldn't get the blocks out of my head. I decided to look where any smart person would look- the garage. Only I was sure they weren't there. Again, I started looking in logical places but I remembered cleaning every box of fabric out ofthe garage so I knew they weren't going to be in here. Until I turned around and saw another box. It was a clear rubbermaid storage container and I could see everything in it- those blocks weren't. But a little voice said to open it and look through and so I did. Way down deep and wrapped in all sorts of other fabrics I found....

Wonderful Wednesday
October is National Breast Cancer Awareness month so I thought it fitting to feature this pattern now so those who order can recieve their pattern and work on their quilts during the month of October.
I don't have a personal connection to breast cancer. Although just recently I had my own brush with a different form of cancer. For some reason I felt inspired to design this quilt. I'd seen many breast cancer quilts before, but I wanted to do something a little different. This quilt is very special to me and I love sharing it. If you've never done a 'crazy piece' technique before than you're in for a treat. Anyone who has done them will tell you they're addicting. It really isn't hard to do and my instructions are super easy to follow and walk you through step-by-step.
The pattern is available for a limited time on my Etsy shop for only $5. I'm going to leave it up for the entire week so that everyone has a chance to purchase it.

SERIOUSLY!?
Tula Pink
No really, take a moment to check it out. I'll wait.
Now for MY rant:
SERIOUSLY!?
I haven't been a fan of 'that store' for much smaller reasons than that. However, there aren't many other stores to choose from in my neck of the woods so I almost always end up there anyway. I might have to start driving an extra 20min. just to avoid it now.
Now, a simple note to all who buy FABRIC at Wal-mart:
I am not just saying this because of the Tula-Scandal. Ever since I became serious quilter I have only used quality quilting fabric. Usually with a certain company name printed on the selvage, but there are several other companies that produce good quilting fabric too. My reasoning for doing so is simple. If I'm going to take the time and effort to make a beautiful quilt, then I want it to last long enough for my grand-children to enjoy it. These cheap fabrics are NOT going to hold up. Now I understand that money is tight and sometimes we want to cut corners. And I say- do so at your own risk. If you 'invest' in quality quilting fabric your quilts will look so much nicer and they will last years longer.
And now I'm done.

Orange and Grey
from CRAZY MOM QUILTS
I forgot all about her beautiful ORANGE and GREY quilts!
P.S.- Check back later for today's WONDERFUL WEDNESDAY feature!!! :o)
Tuesday, September 14, 2010
Did you miss me?
I've been playing with lots of fabric lately and have a new LOVE!
ORANGE and GREY
I've been liking orange for a while now but recently saw a quilt at a local quilt show that was primarily orange and grey. It was so striking, AND it was a wedding quilt! The kind where it's displayed that the reception and all the guests sign it instead of a guest book. I LOVED IT!!!
I've been looking all over the web trying to find some cool quilts to show you- but without my internet that was a little hard. So I'll link you to one of my favorite blogs http://tallgrassprairiestudio.blogspot.com/2010/09/orange-crush-revisited.html
Hey, if you see any orange and grey quilts out there- send me the link! THANKS!

This is so frustrating!!!

Where were you?
I've never been to New York. I grew up on the opposite side of the US. But I LOVE the city and have always dreamed of visiting the city, New York. I didn't know anyone there. The closest I ever came to the Twin Towers was watching a cooking/meal show on HGTV that often featured 'Windows on the World'. I couldn't believe what I was seeing. Yet at the same time, it was soo real.
My heart ached. When I crawled into bed that night I couldn't sleep. I could only think of all those people still waiting to hear from loved ones. Mom's and Dad's trying to figure out how to tell their young children that their Mom or Dad was not coming home. I thought of those pregnant women who's children would never know their fathers. I thought of the rescue workers and their selfless acts. I could not hold back the tears as they rolled down my cheeks and as my husband wrapped his arms around me I cried harder still for all those who lost their loved ones and would never feel their embrace again.
I remember the days following and seeing the American flag flying EVERYWHERE. I miss that. My heart swells with pride when I think of the unity that our country showed in those days, weeks, and months following 9/11. Slowly people started to put their flags away.
Today, on the anniversary of 9/11, I hope you're not able to go anywhere without seeing the flag waving proudly in the sky.

Wonderful Wednesday! (and a sale!)
Since Christmas fabrics have been in the stores for a few months now I decided to feature a Christmas pattern. Now you can order the pattern and get it in time to actually MAKE the quilt before Christmas.
This pattern is so fun and easy to make and I woul LOVE to see it in '12 Days of Christmas' by Kate Spain. If anyone makes it PLEASE send me a pic so I can see!
I was orginially inspired to make this quilt out of a different line. When I went to my LQS they didn't have it, but they did have this- 'FIGGY PUDDING'. I couldn't take my eyes off of it. I bought a 1/4 yd of EVERY PRINT in the line right then and there. I kept trying to think of another pattern and eventually just said "Forget it!" and so 'HOLIDAY LINEUP' was born. Now I am so glad I didn't do it in that other line. While I think that other line is still very cute- this one is PERFECT for this pattern.
Go on and get your pattern by visiting my Etsy link above. Remember- only $5! and only for a limited time. :o)
Also, ALL of my STASH and the last 'MAISON BLEUE' kit have been marked down in my Etsy shop!
Have a WONDERFUL WEDNESDAY!!

Wonderful Wednesday!!
Introducing-
WONDERFUL WEDNESDAY!!!
On 'Wonderful Wednesday' I will be featuring one of my patterns and tell a little about the inspiration, design process, etc. In addition I will feature that pattern in my ETSY shop for only $5! That's right folks, 5 bucks! It'll stay on sale in my Etsy shop until I remember to change it back. I figure that's a safe way to say it since I'm sure I'll forget....ALL THE TIME! Anyway, I'm thinking I'll be leaving it through Friday- just so everyone gets a chance. You know, all them folks in Australia and Japan. :o)
So, what do you think?
How about we start...RIGHT NOW!!
Today's feature is TIGER LILY
I picked this pattern for my first feature because FANDANGO has just hit the stores. I've mentioned before that I met Kate Spain in MN at Market and she is so cute!! Don't tell anyone but I think she's my favorite designer right now. This line really grew on me as I was working with it.
"Sometimes I have an idea for a quilt and as it's coming together I'm just not feeling it. The 'original' quilt that I came up with was just that way. It went through many evolutions that were just "ok" before I finally had that "ah ha!' moment and was inspired to make the finished project"
I LOVE this pattern. I think it's a PERFECT fit for the feel of this line. I've already seen FANDANGO in several local shops. You better hurry out and get yours- oh, and don't forget to head over to my Etsy shop and pick up your pattern for $5 for a limited time!
Hope your WEDNESDAY is WONDERFUL!!

Give that MOOSE some DIAMONDS!
Well I've been running around like CRAZY this morning. First, my 5th grade son informs me that he left his shoes at his cousin's house (the one with the birthday on Sat.) and he had no shoes for school. NONE. So I had to take him to get new ones before he could go to school. Except the store doesn't open until after school has already started. I guess he'll just be late. But first, my Kindergartener had an 'assessment' appointment this morning. So my 5th grader waited in the car while I took her into school where I learned that she would NOT be starting school until she had her shots. Oh yeah, I knew I was forgetting something. Hurry, call Dr. get an appt- TODAY. Took the 5th grader and Kindergartener to the shoes store. $84 dollars later I could drop my son off to school- LATE and hurry to the Dr. so little girl could get her shots. Throw a couple more errands in there and you can see how my day is going. Boy, my 3rd grader missed EVERYTHING! :o)
I''m finally home now and getting to the point of my story. So I sit down to check my email and I have several emails from people looking for 'Diamond in the Rough' pattern. The last email I checked explained why. 'Moose' posted about my quilt. Well, actually hers, but inspired by mine.
You have to go check it out! I LOVE this pattern in her colors.
AFter you check out her blog- slip on over to my ETSY shop and pick up the pattern for yourself!

Party over here!
The girls there are so cute and helpful. I'm not in there a whole lot so I wasn't sure if they would know who I was. But they figured it out soon enough. We had some good chats about quilting and patterns. One of the girls there has started designing patterns too (so help me! I can't remember her name- OR- the pattern name!) and they are sooo cute!! One of them caught my eye right as I walked in and I couldn't help but think "Why didn't I think of that!?" That's what I always think when I see a quilt that I love :)
Picked up a few goodies while I was there.....
'Domestic Diva' for Riley Blake with a few additional fabrics added in (some from Breakfast at Tiffany's by Joanna that I got at market!)
This next bundle has a story:
When the girls at the store and I got to talking about who I was (in all my celebrity-dom!) a customer heard and walked over to me. She showed me the pattern in her hand that she was going to purchase and it was 'Flora and Fauna'. She told me she was making it for her Mother/Grandma because she liked butterflies. We chatted fabric choices for a minute and I went back to have my 'Domestic Diva' cut. Minutes later she walked to the cutting table with a stack of bolts.....

Today is a NEW day
She was only going to stop by for a minute but my house was so quiet we just got to talking.
...and talking....
And talking some more.
Before we knew it time had slipped by and my boys were walking in the door from they're first day of school. We said goodbye and Terry was on her way.
But you know what? I was feeling so much better.
Then I got on to check my blog on had several comments from you guys telling me I was not alone; that so many of you have had 'Quilters Block' also.
It was just what I needed to get started on that HAVE TO list.
THANKS SO MUCH!!!

A different kind of 'BLOCK'
I have it.... BAD.
Folding patterns and filling orders isn't too horrible- but thinking about sewing. Ugh.
I want to sew. But my creativity is at a stand-still.
Actually, that's not even true.
The real problem is that there is a list 3 feet long of HAVE TO's and a list 40 feet long of WANT TO's. I've procrastinated the HAVE TO's so long that it's impossible to look past them and even begin to ENJOY the WANT TO's. Thus I'm not doing ANYTHING.
Does that make sense?
Have you ever had Quilter's Block? What do you do to get past it?
