Everyone, and I mean EVERYONE is doing the Farmer's Wife Quilt-A-Long. Seriously.
EVERYONE!
They are SUPER CUTE.
I feel this tug as though I'm missing out on something big if I don't jump in and join the bandwagon. But honestly, I'm not much of a bandwagon kind of girl.
It's almost like a kind of unspoken peer pressure:
"Everyone else is doing it"
"One block won't hurt"
"C'mon, you know you want to"
I almost designed a button that said I wasn't participating. Not because I'm against it- because I'm not. I just can't start one more project that I know will not get finished. You know what I mean? Too many UFO's!
I hope this isn't coming across as rude. I don't mean it to. I think the book is awesome and the blocks are fantastic. What I really love is the variety of fabrics that people are using. So out of the box for a more traditional design and they really are BEAUTIFUL.
So I'm going to live vicariously through all of you who ARE doing the quilt-a-long and admire the blocks from afar. Keep up the good work.
Oh, and if you're interested in playing catch-up and following along, click the link above to find out all about it. And to see the awesome blocks some of them are doing visit their flickr group. :o)

Nope, I'm not doing it either! I actually have the book, but just don't want to use it yet. Go figure! Maybe if someone starts a new FWQAL this fall I'll jump aboard, but not now. :)
I am sure this quilt will be going on for quite a while and once the UFO`s pile goes in you will be able to join.
I know how you feel I would love to join in but I too have many projects and deadlines to meet. I love to see what others are doing but would also like to see other projects on the go
So if you want you can come and visit you will not see the FW blocks on my blog...as yet...LOL
i'm not doing it. i totally feel the pull though. the only thing that kept me from doing it was that i didn't want to buy a book. i am working on learning to be frugal. i wouldn't be surprised if i cave at some point though...
I am not doing it either. Yes they are cute but I agree with the other 3 I have tons of things to finish!
haha! I'm not doing this one either and actually don't feel the pull. I've already done a sampler and got that out of my system. I do enjoy seeing how different everyones fabric choices are though. It's a great lesson in color.
No I am no doing it etiher. I once started the Dear Jane and only got 12 blocks finished, enough for a small table topper. I am not a jump on the bandwagon kind of girl either!
I'm not doing it, but I really wish I was. I just don't have time right now. I've had the book for about a year. Maybe someday I'll have time!
not EVERYONE, because I am NOT doing it, now do I have a desire to either.
Even though I will probably start just about any other QAL that comes along, it won't be that one.
I jumped on the bandwagon, made about forty blocks in two weeks then jumped back off again - WAAAAAY too addictive for me! And anyway, I'm trying to get my Circle Game quilt top finished piecing before I go away on hols so it's already for its Going Coastal backing LOL.
I am not on the band wagon either. There has been Dear Jane, Not so Jane, Barn QUilts, Sentimental minis , etc,..... AND the Hexie Fad - seen it, done it, not my style. I have other projects in the works or near finish - and then there's x-mas...
I'm not doing it either. Don't get me wrong, I love the blocks the bloggers come up with and enjoy seeing them; but, I'm not the type to do what everyone else is doing. I like doing my own thing most of the time. And, I have several projects I need to complete not to mention several projects I want to get started on.
No-I'm not doing it either! I was tempted until I heard there were templates.
So I could use one of your buttons! Oh wait! I don't have a blog either!
Nah- it's not for me either. But I love getting inspiration from all the blocks everyone else is making! Inspiration is always a good thing - as long as I can keep it from becoming just another UFO!
that's on my list of "maybe someday if my skills are better and I have more time, and when my girls are older, and I don't have too many things I am already workign on" list. but I am not on the band wagon either. Not that I am against it, but not now, thank you!
I'm not doing them either. They are cute, but I have enough irons in the fire right now!
I have the book and I'm not joining either... I just can't do it now..
Would love to do one next year...
I am also vicariously watching others but not participating.
It reminds me so much of goldfinches in my garden. There can be 10 identical plants that have been there for a couple of years (like this book which came out in 2009) but as soon as a couple of birds pick one plant, it becomes THE ONE. 40 or 50 birds all land on that plant, pick it to pieces and before long move on to the the NEXT ONE. Meanwhile, there is a scrubby have complete plant left in their wake.
Maybe I will do it when the it is not so in.
